San Diego Intl. Airport Rental Car Center

    San Diego, CA

PROJECT INFO

The new $316 million dollar CONRAC facility houses 14 rental car companies (can accommodate as many as 19 brands) and includes a customer service building, a quick-turn-around car prep facility, and a 5,000-car ready/return area. Instead of the rental car facilities spread along Pacific Coast Highway as they were, the 4-story project moved the facilities to a centralized location.

Pan-Pacific constructed all plumbing, in addition to the wet side and dry side mechanical. The concrete structure is made up of more than 95,000 cubic yards with two million square feet of total floor area.

This project recognized such savings through the design-assist GMP process that countless additions to the project’s scope were able to be incorporated. The magnitude of the plumbing and mechanical scope was expanded by over 30% of its original scope, yet the project remained ahead of schedule and overall under budget. The project earned LEED Gold certification for its consolidated Rental Car Center from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
