On the Kaiser San Diego Central Hospital project, Pan-Pacific Mechanical is installing a 80,000 gallon emergency fuel oil system. This system is designed to supply the project with fuel for a 3-day period in the event of a power outage. Due to Pan-Pacific’s experience with fuel oil systems, Kaiser requested that Pan-Pacific be the design-build contractor on this scope of work, and as requested we designed and walked this package through the many permitting agencies that govern underground fuel oil storage systems. This system is complete with two 40,000 gallon underground storage tanks, below & above ground piping, fuel oil polishers, remote fill, day tanks, and a top of the line fuel monitoring system. This system is roughly 50% installed to date and is scheduled to be started up and turned over in the 3rd Quarter of 2015.
